NASHVILLE, Tenn. – November 7, 2007 -- The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has announced deadlines and guidelines for the 2008 GMA/CMB Radio Station of the Year contest, making this the 10th year GMA will honor radio at the GMA Dove Awards.
The radio station awards acknowledge those Christian radio stations that meet the highest standards of quality and have the strongest impact on their listening areas, according to John W. Styll, president and CEO of GMA. One radio station from each of the market segments -- major, large, medium and small – are honored with this award.
The entry deadline is January 25, 2008. Eligible stations must play Christian music for at least 50 percent of their broadcast day. They will be judged in four areas -- community involvement, ratings, air-check and industry leadership. Complete guidelines are available at the GMA office at 615-242-0303 or online at http://www.gospelmusic.org/events/generic.aspx?aid=9&pid=81.
Three finalists in each market category will be announced by the GMA and the winners will be notified four weeks before the 39th Annual GMA Dove Awards on April 23, 2008. The winners will be acknowledged during the GMA Dove Awards’ broadcast. The GMA Dove Awards are the culminating event for GMA Music Week 2008, which will be held at various locations in downtown Nashville from April 19-23, 2008 and include radio specific programming through the Christian Music Broadcasters Seminar (CMB).
The Radio Station of the Year winners from 2007 were KSBJ/Houston, Texas; WPOZ/Orlando, Fla.; WMHK/Columbia, S.C.; and KSWP/Lufkin, Texas.
